Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, secured a 2-1 victory against Ghana’s Black Stars in a friendly match held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Friday.
The match provided an opportunity for the two West African rivals to face off during the FIFA international break.
Early in the game, the Super Eagles dominated possession and Cyril Dessers capitalized on a scoring opportunity, calmly converting a penalty in the 38th minute to give Nigeria the lead.
Despite creating numerous chances, Nigeria, under the coaching of Finidi George, struggled to extend their lead, with Dessers and Kelechi Iheanacho failing to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
However, in the second half, Alex Iwobi set up Ademola Lookman, who confidently found the back of the net, doubling Nigeria’s lead with a powerful strike.
Although Jordan Ayew managed to score a goal for Ghana in the closing stages, it wasn’t enough to prevent Nigeria’s victory.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play another friendly match against Mali in four days’ time.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Super Eagles of Nigeria recently dropped in last Month’s latest FIFA rankings, but were ahead of Ghana and Cameroon.
