Portable Released From Police Custody After Meeting Bail Condition
Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from police custody in Lagos.
Portable was apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly not fulfilling a debt he owed after purchasing a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 from Ogunsanwo Temitope (Temmy Autos), a car dealer in Lagos.
Reports indicated that Portable only paid N13 million of the N27 million total cost of the vehicle and refused to pay the remaining N14 million.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that Portable spent Tuesday night in police custody as he has not provided a reliable surety yet.
In a fresh development, Hundeyin confirmed Portable’s release to Vanguard on Wednesday evening.
When asked if the singer resolved the payment issue, the police spokesman said he didn’t know but confirmed that Portable had been granted bail.
KanyiDaily had published a video showing the moment Portable attempted to evade arrest by climbing a fence gate to escape, but he was caught by a four police officer who subdued him.
