Nigerian rapper, Olamide Adedeji, better known as Olamide, has surprised fans by announcing a new project titled “Ikigai.”
The YBNL Nation founder announced the 7-track project just hours after performing at Davido and Chioma’s wedding.
“Ikigai,” which means “reason for being” or “life’s purpose” in Japanese, is Olamide’s 10th solo album and 15th project overall.
The album features collaborations with current and former YBNL members.
Fans can expect tracks with Fireboy DML and Asake, like track 3, “Uptown Disco,” and a reunion with Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on the final track, “Synchro System.”
Before the announcement, Olamide teased a song on his Instagram story, which turned out to be track 5, “Hello Habibi.”
This project comes as a surprise since Olamide had hinted in 2023 on his X (formerly Twitter) account that his album ‘Unruly’ might be his last.
“Ikigai” is set to release on June 26. Olamide has consistently delivered hits, with his last album featuring songs like “Trumpet” with CKay, “New Religion” with Asake, and “Jinja.”
Fans are eagerly anticipating the YBNL reunion on “Ikigai,” as Olamide continues to build his legacy in Nigerian music.
KanyiDaily recalls that Asake recently cleared his Instagram page by deleting all his photos, and unfollowing everyone including Olamide.
