Former Miss South Africa contestant, Chidimma Adetshina has accepted an invitation to compete in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

KanyiDaily recalls that Chidimma Adetshina faced controversies over her eligibility for this year’s Miss South Africa pageant.

The issue gained attention on social media after she qualified for the top 16, forcing her withdrew from the Miss SA pageant citing concerns for her family’s safety.

Some South African users argued she should be disqualified due to her Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, despite being born in Soweto, South Africa.

The South African Ministry of Home Affairs even launched an investigation to verify her nationality.

The investigation suggested that Chidimma’s mother might have committed identity theft to become a South African citizen.

Following her withdrawal from Miss SA, Miss Universe Nigeria expressed support for Chidimma, acknowledging the difficulties she faced.

Ben Murray-Bruce, the National Director, formally invited her to the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, praising her talent and encouraging her to represent her Nigerian heritage.

On Wednesday, August 14, Chidimma announced her decision to participate in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

The 23-year-old model expressed her excitement about joining what she called “Africa’s most prestigious” pageant and thanked the organizers for the opportunity.

“With great excitement, I have decided to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant,” she said in social media post shared by Ben Murray-Bruce.

“Now, I understand the expectations and responsibilities that come with this title and I’m so excited to be back on this journey.

“I just want to say thank you so much for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Universe Nigeria.”
