President Muhammadu Buhari called the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, a responsible leader despite bribery allegations levelled against the governor.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje headlined the news over the past few weeks after a publisher with Daily Nigerian, Ja’afar Ja’afa, published a series of videos showing the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje receiving bribes from contractors handling projects in the state.
According to reports, Gov Ganduje received a total of $5 million in installments from contractors on several occasions.
On November 4, 2018, the Federal Government disengaged itself and said there’s no reason for President Muhammadu Buhari to engage himself with the bribery scandal. Read the report HERE
However, according to a report by Channels Television, President Buhari while interacting with members of the Nigerian community in France, on Monday, 12 November 2018, one of the participants asked the president what his government was doing about the allegations levelled against the Gov Ganduje, he responded by praising the governor for “doing so much”. He said:
“I commend the governor for doing so much. He once invited me and I went to Kano. The good projects started by Kwankwaso in education and healthcare, Ganduje completed them.
“He completed the projects and now the people of Kano are enjoying the benefit. I think that is very responsible of him.”
An earlier report says otherwise. According to Vanguard, when President Buhari was interacting with members of the Nigerian community in France, he snapped when a student on scholarship from Kano state praised Governor Ganduje and asked the Federal Government to emulate him.
According to the report, President Buhari said he has given Governor Ganduje’s bribery video to security agencies for vetting, adding that he would deal with the Governor if found guilty. Read the full report HERE.
