The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed why an Igbo man would someday become the governor of the state.
According to Daily Post, Sanwo-Olu disclosed this during a reception where he was honored by his Igbo friends with the title: “Ugochinyere Eze Ndigbo” at the National Stadium in Lagos on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
The governorship candidate said Lagos State would always remain home to Igbo people because they are already stakeholders in state’s project.
According to him, the Igbo people have contributed immensely to the economic growth of the state through various businesses and as such made themselves part of the state. He said:
“One day, your son will stand here as the governor of this state, a senator in Lagos or any other top political office.
“No Lagosian will fight an Igbo man because he is part of us.
“Lagos will be land of milk and honey to you. We know that you are very relevant in this state considering your activities in the area of commerce.”
Sanwo-Olu pointed out that the peaceful co-existence between Igbo and Yoruba people would be worthy of emulation.
