Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage has cancelled her upcoming show in South African over the recent wave of violence by South Africans towards other Africans.
These past few days have been saturated with news of xenophobic attacks in South Africa on black people.
There have been some gruesome videos in circulation on the internet showing many Nigerians and foreigner being killed, maimed, lynched and their properties destroyed by South African locals in a surge of xenophobic attacks.
Tiwa Savage has joined many Nigerian celebrities who have spoken up against the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Tiwa Savage has announced she is boycotting a show by DSTV which would see her perform in the country. The DSTV delicious Festival was scheduled to start on September 21 in Johannesburg which has been hugely affected by the xenophobic attacks.
In a tweet, the crooner said that her decision was influenced by “the barbaric butchering of my people in SA.” She wrote:
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this,” Tiwa wrote.
