A Brazilian man who injects oil into his muscles isn’t planning on stopping any time soon.
Bodybuilder Valdir Segato who has amassed a huge following on social media says he has been using synthol injections for several years to pump up his muscles, despite the warnings that it increases the risk of stroke, infections, abscesses and even amputation.
Valdir, who has amassed 1.7 million followers on TikTok, said he was influenced by Hollywood super star Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Incredible Hulk.
Back in 2016, he was warned by Brazilian medical doctors that if he continued to use the oil he will most likely end up with disfigurement, nerve and muscle damage and a plethora of other nasty outcomes, but that hasn’t deterred him.
Speaking after he was given the news, Valdir said
“The doctors tell me to stop it, the advice they give me is to stop using. But it’s my decision to use it because I want to, because I like to.”
Meanwhile, his best friend Fernando Carvalho da Silva is very concerned about him. He said
“The oil thing is stupidity. He thinks it’s good and I’m a friend so I stay quiet, but deep down I want to tell him to stop but he doesn’t want to. He’s happy like that.
“It’s the risk he takes – he wants to look good and wants to be famous.”
Valdir revealed that when he was quite younger, he was a drug addict, which resulted in massive weight loss and the unflattering nickname ‘Skinny Dog’.
