A popular Instagram model who had relationships with several celebrities recently revealed that she was diagnosed with HIV/ AIDS.
The model Gena Tew, shared her emotional journey with the virus on her TikTok account.
Tew explained in a video that she unknowingly had the virus and only recently discovered she was a carrier. The model, who said she was extremely sick when doctors discovered the virus revealed that she doesn’t know how she got it but was told she’s likely had the condition for 8-10 years.
The 27-year-old model said she believes she contracted the virus when she was around 17 or 19 years old.
“In that time frame, I was living New York City and was homeless, I did get raped a couple of times but it’s not something I like to talk about, I have had a couple free tattoos so it could have been a dirty needle, I don’t know. Do I know any one of those people? No. Did I say anything when those things happened? No. Because I was naive and I was stupid and I was young”.
Tew has opened up about how difficult it has been since her diagnosis.
“I got so weak in the first days of knowing I had AIDS… I could barely focus and strained to talk,” she wrote in the caption of one of her videos.

Gina Tew also disclosed that the virus has taken a toll on her body, including vision loss in one eye and weight loss. The 27-year-old said she has lost the ability to walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
In one video, which has been viewed 1.7 million times, Tew is shown trying to get up and walk.
“I miss walking,” she wrote in the caption.
Tew has kept her fans updated regarding her health, including her blood count and her strength levels.
