Jonathan’s aide turns preacher on Facebook 3
The Special Assistant to President Good
Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, may have landed a new job  – or
warming up for one – on popular social media, Facebook. The Abuja-based lawyer now appears to be
spending most of his time preaching on Facebook. In recent times, he
seems to have taken to the ‘pulpit’, talking about the importance of
prayer and perseverance on his timeline.
On Wednesday afternoon, Omokri wrote on
his Facebook timeline, “Jesus said in Matthew 6:31-32, “Don’t  worry,
saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we
wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly
Father knows that you need them.” James said in James 2:15-17 “Suppose a
brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says
to him, ‘Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing
about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”….continue reading.

“Here, Jesus is telling us that God
wants to meet our most elementary needs, and James is telling us that it
is through you and I that God will meet the needs of those less
fortunate than us. I tell you this, if you will have the faith to meet
the needs of those less fortunate than you, God will cause those more
fortunate than you to meet your own needs for as Jesus said “Give, and
it will be given to you” Luke 6:38.”
Not done with his preaching or perhaps,
spurred by the responses he got, such as one by David Ibitoye who wrote,
“I am blessed,  sir”, he went further on Thursday afternoon. This time
he ‘taught’ his friends the importance of consultation.
He wrote, “If you believe that Jesus the
Son of God was a perfect man during His time on earth, then consider
what He did before He chose His associates. In Luke 6:12-13 the Bible
records that “it came to pass in those days, that He went out into a
mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it
was day, He called unto him His disciples, and of them He chose 12, whom
also He named apostles.”
While it will be interesting to continue
to watch the ‘lips’ of the presidential aide online, his friends have
continued to spiritually reason with him.
