Cover girl: Selena Gomez graces three alternate covers of Seventeen magazine's March issue as she's named the most powerful girl 21 and under in their inaugural Power issue
Beautiful and talented Selena Gomez has revealed she only started to feel powerful this past year after previously seeing herself as ‘the underdog’ when it came to her career. Gracing the cover of Seventeen’s first ever Power issue, the singer has been named the magazine’s number one most powerful girl 21 and under.
She said

This year is when I really started feeling powerful,’ she says of her personal growth. ‘I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley [Cyrus], the Jonas Brothers and Demi [Lovato]. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang and wrote.

‘Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup and realised I needed to have Come & Get It be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I’m glad it’s taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it.’

The Slow hitmaker revealed that she’s confided in fellow singer Katy Perry when it comes to boys as she struggles to find someone who isn’t intimidated by her drive and success at such a young age.

‘I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven’t found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it and not be threatened by it,’ she opens up.

‘It’s hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I’m like, “I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?” But I only know how to be me.’
