At least 10 job seekers died today while many more sustained varying degrees of injury this morning during a stampede at the National Stadium, Abuja venue of the ongoing recruitment test by the Nigeria Immigrations Service (NIS).
Several thousands of job-seekers thronged the Abuja stadium to write the test but only one entrance to the 60,000-capacity stadium was made available. An applicant who turned back after seeing the crowd said there was no way the applicants would not have been more than 60,000.
At least 40 of those who were injured were admitted at the National Hospital in Abuja, while several others were referred to other hospitals due to lack of capacity to admit and treat all those injured.
8 people have been confirmed dead in calaber and i hear there are casualties in Lagos also. It’s a pity we live in a country where our leaders dont value us. Dont be surprised that those who will end up getting these jobs are busy relaxing at home. More pictures when you continue

This is alarming!!! Millions of people just for a mere 3 thousand job slots in the immigration services. Are they all truly unemployed or just the typical human nature to want for a better condition even though some of those present might still have a job? Are there no other processes for short-listing candidates? The morons in charge of this recruitment process are brain dead!! Rumors say the applicants even paid N1000 each…never heard of paying money for a job that you don't have or for any job at all… don't tell me poverty causes ignorance! Nigerians cause their own wahala, I swear. A lot has to change.
Where are the owners of those shoes?
It's important to note that these applicants paid N1,000 application fee and there were over 2 million applicants…you do the calculation, that's about N2billion. We need the Minister of Interior and Comptroller General of Immigration to address what happened today
super eagles should have organized a friendly match to entertain them.
World Cup Final…. Immigrations vs Nigeria youths
Wow, this is crazy
hy cant the youth come out like this and fight for the corruption of this country and for there right, like other western world youth and see if the government will not change or adjust for this corrupt nation
It's time we kick useless leaders of out this great country coz, they said and quoted? Youth are the leaders of tomorrow but, it's opposite meaning that's why we're suffering and they're busy living large and sending their children abroad to school put them in high places.
Unfortunately, most of the people that will eventually get recruited are relaxing at home. May God help Nigeria.
Them won go watch football? Oh my heart bleed when i see Nigerians suffering like this we need revolution in this country.
Got the BC below from a friend, it , makes a nice read in light of our present predicament:
Arise O' Sleeping Youth of Nigeria!
Awolowo was (37), Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36) Balewa (34) and Okotie-Eboh (27), Enahoro (27) led the struggle for independence after the death of Macaulay. Only Zik was 42 at the time.
In 1966, the first coup was led by: Kaduna Nzeogwu (29) and countered by Murtala Mohammed (28), Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (25), Nanven Garba (23), Sani Abacha (23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29), Buhari (24).
Most of the military administrators who governed the states under the successive military regimes, most of whom are governors now, were under 30 years.
The brief democratic dispensation which interjected the military interregnums also saw the House of Representatives in particular populated by majority of members under 30 years as well as some senators.
Under 30s were also not in short supply with appointments, we have examples of MT Mbu who became foreign affairs minister at 23 and Pat Utomi who became a presidential adviser at 27 and so on and so forth.
NOW:
Why is it that this age bracket is today still sleeping in 3 seater chairs in their parents’ homes?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still collecting pocket money from their parents?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still writing JAMB?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still sagging their trousers?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still searching for jobs?
Why is it that this age bracket is today no longer qualified to even be leaders of youth wings of political parties?
Why is it that this age bracket is today so docile?
Why is it that this age bracket is today still incapable of feeding itself?
Why is it that this age bracket is today barred by law from even aspiring to certain political offices?
Why is it that this age bracket is today incapacitated, unwilling, unable and incapable of asking questions?
Hahahahahaha if pple come interview like dis how judgment day won be na. Make fellow youth make una go house ooo no interview 4 una

Sufferings in the land of abundant riches. My heart aches
Very pathetic…
But the question is: can't these youths read in btw the lines? We are trapped in the woods, an the only escape route is "a creative mind".

Oh Nigeria,It is well☹☹☹☹
This pictures tells a lot about the country called Nigeria.
This not job opening but a super eagle's match preparation for world cup. Despite lack of job, the government cannot give incentives t unemployed graduates as it is been done in other country, but our $20 billion can got missing without a clue. May God give us a leader that will deliver us.
I see revolution! This stadium has never been these filled up during a football match but look @ thousands looking for a mere job. #revolution I preach! #YoungMoney
How can d present youth protest d evils of our leadership when they have perfected acts of thuggery, robbery n kidnap, being manipulated by d same ppl in power,God help us.
