Technology has advanced so rapidly in the past few decades that it appears children these days don’t even know what a rotary telephone is.
In a YouTube video, a group of kids aged five to 13 are presented with an old-fashioned phone and asked various questions about it – with hilarious results. When the host tells them, for example, that the phone makes a sound called a ‘dial tone’ to indicate that the line is live, eight-year-old Brooke-Monae remarks: ‘Dial tone… I think I’ve heard of that.’
