An unending land dispute between a family has ended in bizzare fashion as a man identified as Jude Boroh allegedly chopped off the hand of a member of his extended family in the Emevor community of Isoko-North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to Punch Metro, the shocking incident occurred at about 5:00pm on Saturday after a meeting involving the parties to demarcate, adjust a family land boundary, and address the land dispute which had been lingering for years, which reportedly did not go down well with some members of the family, and resulted in the incident.
The suspect was a member of the Umutama family, which belonged to the extended Ururoho family in the Emevor community, while the victim, Morgan Ekure, a civil servant with the Delta State Government, who is from the Edivri family, was left bleeding after the incident.
An eye witness, Edward Akure, a senior member of the Edivri family who confirmed the incident to a correspondent, said the suspect had before the meeting threatened to wreak havoc over the land, adding that the meeting had gone peacefully before the suspect surfaced to attack the victim.
He noted that previous threats by the suspect against the members of the Edivri family were not taken seriously by the police at Otor-Owhe, Isoko-North, where they had earlier reported as the suspect had already been arrested by the police at the Otor-Owhe division.
