Rapper Lil Wayne has released his long-awaited, much anticipated ”Carter V” album which was rumored to be his last album back in July 2012. The album, however, failed to be released, and as the year went by, Lil Wayne got himself involved in several legal issues with his formal label boss, Birdman and other health-related issues.
These setbacks made the rapper shift his attention to other projects like ‘I am not a human being’ which was released in 2013. He also did some collaborations during those time.
The album was later released in the early hours of Friday, September 28, 2018, which is the same day he celebrates his 36th birthday.
‘Tha Carter V’ album is made up of 23 track records, which featured artists like Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Sampha, his daughter Regina Carter, and the late XXXTentacion. Producers who worked on the album include Swizz Beatz, Boomin, Mannie Fresh, Zaytoven, DJ Mustard, Dr. Dre, among others.
Lil Wayne’s mother, Jacida Carter, appears throughout the album, while the track “Dedicate” ends with a sample of Barack Obama talking about Wayne.
