Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has threatened to release to the public a CCTV footage of the alleged assassination attempt that was made on his life on November 6, 2018, by armed men if the Police do not withdraw its report and reveal the true intention of the armed men.
Earlier before now, the Nigeria Police Force debunked the alleged assassination attempt on the life of the Senate Deputy President and stated that the incident that happened in Ekeremadu’s house was burglary and not an assassination attempt. Read the report HERE.
During plenary on Wednesday, November 7, Ekweremadu rubbished the claims made by the Police and threatened to release the video of what happened that day at his residence to the public if the Police do not withdraw its report and reveal the true intention of the armed men. He said;
“The police looked at the CCTV footage but could not figure it out. Fortunately, a technician came and was able to figure out the footage. Unless they withdraw their report, I will release the video to Nigerians to judge for themselves.”
Senator Ike Ekweremadu also accused the Police Force of failing to conduct thorough investigations into the incidence and dismissing the assassination as a mere burglary. He said:
“No thorough investigations were made by the police. I was shocked to hear that they had said it was a mere burglary case. My son, who was hospitalized, was not even interviewed by the police.”
Recall that according to a statement signed by Ekweremmadu’s spokesperson, Uche Anichukwu, about what happened on that Tuesday morning; the gunmen had taken hold of the lawmaker’s son and commanded him to lead them his bedroom where a struggle ensued before one of the attackers was apprehended. His wife was also in the house at the time of the attack.
