Thugs Invade Ondo Assembly, Attack Lawmakers Over Impeachment Of Speaker And Deputy
Thugs took over the Ondo State House of Assembly on Friday, attack and humiliated lawmakers, staff, and journalists over the removal from office of Speaker Bamidele Oloyelogun and his Deputy, Ogundeji Iroji who were said to have been impeached over alleged “gross misconduct and incompetence”.

The thugs armed with dangerous weapons such as bottles, cutlasses, sticks among others were led by the state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Jacob Dabo popularly known as “Idajo”. He is also accompanied to the house by the state chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Ade Adetimehin as well as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Jimoh Dojumo.
During the attack, the thugs had a field day as the security operatives left them unchallenged with the Commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju on the ground. They attacked the new speaker, Olamide George, his deputy, Abimbola Fajolu.
They also attacked Hon. Vincent Obadiah, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, a journalist working with AIT, Abiodun Taiwo as well as his counterpart working with ITV, Ade Ilori.
The Impeached Speaker, Bamidele Oloyelogun urged his supporters and people of the state to remain calm and be law-abiding, insisting that the impeachment would not stand.
He said the newly elected speaker and 15 other members of the assembly had been suspended for ‘unruly conduct’ and that the assembly activities had been adjourned indefinitely.
