Viral photos of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members allegedly sleeping in open areas ahead of 2019 presidential election has generated controversies online.
According to reports making round, some of the AD-HOC staff who are due to work in the 2019 presidential elections have to sleep outside without protection and proper accommodation.
In the viral photos which emerged online this Saturday morning, the Corp members can be seen sleeping outside on mats, in a bus, wherever they can lay their heads on.
The photos are currently causing outrage on social media among Nigerians and other Corps members, as they lamented over poor arrangement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its officials.

I still maintain what I said about this program some years Ago. Is this compulsory? Why do you accept to do this and put yourself in harms way? Why do parents Allow their children do this? @inecnigeria is this how you should threat ppl’s children “serving” Nigeria? #NYSC pic.twitter.com/TJU61O3lJC

Shame on the DG of NYSC for allowing our corpers to be treated like animals by INEC. No provision for their welfare and billions of naira was appropriated for these elections. Mahmood Yakubu should better fix it before the new day of election. RT for the corpers. pic.twitter.com/6nivxcy1WH

I expect NYSC to condemn this nonsense and do better in the future by engaging INEC about the welfare of the corpers.
Be assure provisions were made for accommodation and their feeding.Same happened to us in 2011 when I was a corper,no food we slept in the cold open space pic.twitter.com/QSWgj0ysjX

When I told people I was not interested in working during the elections, they thought I was forming rich corper. Look at all the suffering they're going through now for 13 thousand. Corpers fcuking go home! Let NYSC and INEC go and die on the line for the elections themselves pic.twitter.com/3T425MPvVK

They wanted cheap labour. There is no where in the NYSC bye – law that makes it compulsory for corpers to be part of the election. Point me to it if you can.
That being said.
BE WISE
INEC doesn't care about you.
NYSC doesn't care about you
Nigeria doesn't care about you

The NYSC should stop allowing corp members to be used as adhoc staff if there is zero provision for their welfare and accomodation really.

INEC and NYSC should keep their 35k…..corpers are not tools…. If You want GRADUATES to help…. Treat them right…..#CorpersNotSlave

If NBA doesn't mobilize lawyers to sue INEC for mass disenfranchisement, damages for election postponement, NYSC for unbearable conditions, then i an attending all the conferences to attack the whole NBA this year.— Foza Billions (The Oracle) (@fozadoza) February 16, 2019
Abuja peeps what are we doing for the NYSC deployed to the FCT for elections to get them at least food and water today? Where are they? What arrangements were made to lodge them?

Oh god I've suffered this night. We're all just sitting out here, no accommodation, we haven't even seen any INEC official. No sleep. And we're supposed to function all through tomorrow.
Remind again why I decided to participate in this NYSC/INEC kini

The aim of the Nysc scheme is to break you down; mentally, financially, emotionally, so that by the time your one year is over, you would have forgotten your light. You need to stay true to yourself, hold on by all means. Never compromise even in the face of armageddon.

Honey, you had a choice. You could have refused it. It still is not fair or right. But don't say INEC or NYSC is putting you through it because you had a choice to stay away from the whole thing. Nigerian and The Blame game. https://t.co/lnUybW2oZN
