The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) has vowed to use all legal means to stop the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from becoming the president of Nigeria in 2023.
The AYCF, in its statement on Monday, May 20, through its national president, Comrade Yerima Shettima, said that it will never support Tinubu’s lofty ambition because already the southwest is enjoying enviable appointments from the federal government.
Shettima in the statement said that “through the total dominance and manipulation of political and economic power, the south-west has badly shortchanged the north, making it’s people irrelevant in the running of government for more than four years.”
“There is no way after cornering all the juicy federal government appointments and skewing development projects in favour of the south-west anyone will dare approach the north with the issue of seeking for the presidency in 2023. That will be totally unacceptable.”
The AYCF boss went on to say that he will make use of all legal means to subdue schemes by Tinubu, whose aim, according to the group, was the 2023 presidency.
He maintained that the APC’s national leader’s bid will be a waste of efforts, adding that it “is no longer possible because the country belongs to all of us.” He said:
“We’re not in the Banana Republic and the world has moved on from the era of political impunity.”
