The Ondo State Police Command has defended one of its officer identified as Sergeant Taiwo Orisadare, who is accused of allegedly stabbing nine people at a night club in Akure, Ondo State.
According to reports, trouble ensued after the policeman who is attached to the Akure Area Commander’s office got drunk. He started acting strange by harassing people who had come to the club which is located in Alagbaka GRA area of Akure on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses of the incident alleged that the drunk policeman stabbed nine people who were trying to confront him to take it easy with the liquor.
“It was so clear that he (Sergeant Orisadare) was so drunk and was already becoming something else at the club. He won’t just listen to those trying to tell him to take things easy. Things went awry as he started attacking everyone he could lay hands on. He stabbed nine people before he could be overpowered”, an eyewitness said.
However, the state Police Public Relation Officer, Femi Joseph, alleged that there was a fight at the club which resulted to the stabbing. He said:
“They were both fighting. The policeman did not stab anyone to death. Do you even know the condition of the policeman now?” He asked rhetorically.
It was also learnt that some of the victims that were attacked by the police officer were recuperating in various hospitals, with some in critical conditions.
