Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has appointed a bread vendor identified as Abdulmalik Saidu Maibiredi, as his Senior Special Assistant on social media matters.
In a letter dated September 24, 2019, Governor Matawalle appointed Mr. Maibiredi as his Senior Special Assistant with effect from September 14, 2019.
During a phone interview with Daily Nigerian, Mr. Maibiredi disclosed that he has been promoting bread almost all his life, and vowed to continue with his trade despite government appointment.
The 24-year-old graduate, however, said that he will only be selling the bread after office hours so as to meet up with his appointment as SSA to Governor Matawalle.
“I am still very proud of my business, and I never felt denigrated selling bread. I started selling bread since I was in primary school,” he said.
“I use the proceeds of the business to pay PTA dues for myself, pay for common entrance examination, placement examination and SSCE.
“I bought bicycle for myself when I was in class 4 in primary school. I never bothered to ask my parents for money to buy school uniform.
“I did my NCE selling bread. I am currently going for my final year in the Federal University Gusau. That is how I became who I am today. Right now as we speak, it is bread in front of me,” Mr Maibiridi added.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has urged women to stop begging for political appointments saying they are manipulators who can manipulate men into signing what they wouldn’t want to sign.
According to him, women should stop peddling gender inequality as the reason they don’t get appointments in Nigeria, rather he urged them to focus on building their competence and lifting one another.
