The lawmaker representing Kano South, Senator Kabiru Gaya has warned Nigerians about disrespecting their elders like President Muhammadu Buhari and vice president Yemi Osinbajo.
Gaya, who is an All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator of the ninth Assembly, said that no abuse against the person of President Buhari can stand because the president and his vice, deserves to be respected by all Nigerians.
The senator stated this while speaking with State House Correspondents after a private meeting with Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
Gaya urged Osinbajo to disregard the allegation of tribalism against him by the Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, whom he urged to check the records before speaking.
“First of all, this is interesting; you see in a country like Nigeria, we need to respect our elders; people like President Muhammadu Buhari, you cannot say anything wrong about him or abuse him because he is the president.
“Like, the vice president, there is no point in raising all these issues; I think there is the need for before Junaid speaks, he should be able to check the records of who are the staff of the Office of the Vice President.
“I think I remember vividly; we have a member of the House of Representatives, Hafiz Ibrahim, from Tarauni constituency of Kano state who is from the Office of the Vice President.
“I think the vice president should disregard this issue and continue working as vice president; I believe we should not be distracted; we should work as a team,’’ he said.
KanyiDaily had reported that Junaid Mohammed said that Osinbajo showed extreme signs of tribalism and bigotry during times when Buhari was away for sick leave in London.
According to him, Prof Osinbajo is tribalistic because he employed members of his church and tribesmen during the period President Buhari was on a sick leave.
