The convoy of Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo was involved in a fatal accident en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday.
Osinbajo lost one of his police escort riders, Ali Gomina, who was crushed to death in the accident which involved a car and a truck.
The 45-year-old police inspector was escorting Osinbajo on an official trip to Lagos when the accident occurred.
A State House source who narrated how the accident happened, said that as the lead rider in the VP’s convoy, Gomina had gone ahead to block a U-turn to allow the vehicles in the convoy to drive through.
“While Gomina blocked the U-turn, a car from the other side rammed into his motorbike.
