The emir of Rano Emirate, one of the newly created four emirates by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State is dead.
The Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar Illa died today after suffering from an undisclosed illness.
He was aged 74.
The secretary of Rano Emirate council, Sank Haruna who confirmed the news said he received the news about the emir’s death around 5pm this evening.
“I’m now on my way to the hospital, the emir is dead,” he said.

The late emir was rushed to the Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital yesterday in critical condition and he was admitted.
He was later referred to the Nassarawa Specialist Hospital for further medical attention unfortunately he died today Saturday 2nd May 2020.

Meanwhile, Kano State government yesterday announced that preliminary investigations into the recent unexplained deaths in the state showed many of the victims died from malaria and Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) and also had underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, among others illnesses.
