Manchester United footballer, Adilson Angel Gomes has revealed why he visited Prophet TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) three years ago.
KanyiDaily recalls that an old video which was shot in 2017 resurfaced on the social media on Monday, June 15, 2020, showing Angel Gomes at SCOAN receiving prayers of healing for the injuries he had long been battling.
In the video, the 19-year-old midfielder, who was 16-year-old at the time, revealed that his parents are “huge fans” of Prophet TB Joshua
He also narrated how he’s been struggling with frequent injuries — including hip, groin and ankle — hindered him from playing in times of important tournaments, matches, and breakthrough moments.
Following the uproar generated by the video which saw thousands of rival fans poke fun at the Man United player, Gomes took to his Twitter page on Tuesday to explain the rationale behind his actions.
According to Gomes, he’s from a Christian family and his mom wanted him to visit Prophet T.B Joshua’s church for healing as he was going through some issues at that time.
The footballer admitted the footage might look ‘crazy’, but stressed that he should be able to practice his faith however he wishes, adding that there are far more important things for people to focus on than his faith.
“Regarding the video that has come out from 2016. I am from a Christian family at the time my mum was a fan of the pastor, and she really wanted me to go. I was going through some issues. From the outside looking in it looks crazy, but I was just practicing my faith.
“I didn’t really need to explain myself but a lot of people was asking me what the video was about. I was young at the time and if my parents thought something was best for Me I would do it. There are far more important issues out there in the world we can tackle, ” he tweeted.
