Adamu Abubakar, the son of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election, said that his father, Atiku Abubakar, will contest for the presidency again in 2023.
Adamu who is the commissioner for Works and Energy in Adamawa State, disclosed this while presenting the score card of his ministry, as the administration of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri celebrates one year in office.
“Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with my father contesting for the presidency. In 2023, my father will be aspiring to the number one office in the land because he has been an astute, strategic, master politician for almost four decades,” he said.
The former vice president’s son disclosed that he came late into politics because his father adviced him to spend more time in the private sector to gain enough experience, which would be crucial for him in public life.
“I am basically here to serve my people; if I am called by the people back home to run for the Senate, I don’t see anything wrong with that,” he added.
KanyiDaily recalls that Atiku Abubakar who will be 76 years in 2023, had contested the last presidential election in 2019 under the platform of the PDP, but lost to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Atiku had contested for the number position for five (5) times and lost.
