Nigerian singer, Emma Nyra has come under attack on social media for slamming Nigerians who are celebrating the arrest of a suspected Internet fraudster, Raymond Igbalode Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

KanyiDaily had reported how Hushpuppi and his 10 gang members were arrested in the United Arab Emirate, Dubai on June 10, 2020, for defrauding over 1.9 million victims to the tune of $435.6 million (N168 billion).

Emma Nyra took her Twitter page on Sunday, July 5, 2020, to call out Nigerians for celebrating the arrest of Hushpuppi, noting that rejoicing his downfall will put money in thier pocket.

She further claimed that Nigerians hatred for Hushpuppi for the fact that they felt oppressed by his expensive social media lifestyle and everyone wished to be like him.

“A lot of people are happy about what happened to Hushpuppi because he was oppressing them on social media. The truth is that rejoicing in his downfall is not gonna put money in your pocket. I’m tired of reading about someone else’s downfall. Let me jeje hustle my own,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, on Friday, July 4, 2020, Hushpuppi was charged with the conspiracy to commit money laundering before a United States court, one for which he could get a maximum jail term of 20 years if convicted.
