Isa Funtua, a billionaire businessman and Founding Managing Director of Democrat Newspaper and former President of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) is dead.
The 76-year-old Second Republic minister reportedly died of cardiac arrest this evening while visiting his doctor.
The Katsina-born media mogul and industrialist was a minister under the civilian administration of Shehu Shagari. A member of the 1994-1995 Constitutional Conference, he was also the founder of Bulet International Nigeria Limited, which built some of the iconic public buildings in Abuja and also was life patron of Newspaper’s Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN).
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu has also confirmed the death.
Mr Garba said Mallam Funtua was returning from the mosque where he went to pray when he suddenly fell ill and decided to go see a doctor.
Isa-Funtua will be buried tomorrow in Abuja.
