Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu reacts to the nationwide candlelight procession held in honour of all those killed by the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in general.
KanyiDaily had reported that EndSARS protesters held a candlelight vigil in various states across to country on Friday night, to mourn the death of friends, loved ones, and family members who met their cruel end at the hands of the police and SARS officials.
Reacting on his Twitter page on Saturday morning, Governor Sanwo-Olu said he saw powerful images of the event, saying it calls for sober reflections.
“I have seen powerful images and videos of the #CandleForSARSVictims vigils held across the country. It calls for very sober reflections”.
Governor Sanwo-Olu further disclosed the orderly room trial of the police officers involved in the killing of protesters in Some last Monday had commenced.
“Some of the victims attended and will testify before the panel next week. Justice will be served. Thank you to the team for actively following up and helping victims.
“There is so much more to be done and I will keep sharing the actions we are taking in line with my announcements,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Sanwo-Olu had also arrested the four policemen who brutalized #EndSARS protesters at the Area C Command Police Station in the Surulere area of the state.
