Dahiru Buba, the man who trekked a long distance to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari’s election victory in 2015, has been rewarded with a sum of N2million and a car gift by Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Five years ago, Buba trekked from Gombe State to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja for 15 days to celebrate Buhari’s win in the 2015 election.
KanyiDaily recalls that a week ago, the 50-year-old man revealed that he is currently suffering from severe limb pains that he allegedly developed after the walk.
He sought financial assistance to treat limb the limb pains, lamenting that life became unbearable for him and his family as a result of the physical challenge.
Buba also called on the government and other well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid as he could no longer offset his medical bills and pay his children’s school fees.
After five years after the ”great trek”, the man was presented with a car gift and the sum of N2 million by Governor Yahaya on Monday, November 16, 2020.
A statement by Ismaila Misilli, media aide to Yahaya, quoted the governor as saying no genuine effort or sacrifice will go unrewarded no matter how long it takes.
“For taking the pains and risks to show solidarity with Mr President and our great party, people like Buba should not be neglected,” he said.
“By embarking on that solidarity trek, Dahiru Buba had shown patriotism and support, he should therefore be appreciated and encouraged”.
The governor said he made sure that medical attention was given to Buba, and that he (Buba) is now responding to treatment.
“So, on learning about his condition, first I directed that he should be taken to the hospital for proper medical attention and I am happy that he is now better after undergoing his first round of treatment,” he said.
“As far as we are concerned in the APC and in this administration, no genuine effort or sacrifice will go unrewarded, no matter how long it takes.
“So, on behalf of our dear President and our beloved party, we say a big thank you for your show of support and solidarity”.
Buba who thanked the governor and the president for the gifts, promised to use the car and the money judiciously, adding that the gesture has motivated and spurred him to continue to support the APC.
KanyiDaily had also repoted how another man who had trekked from Lagos to Abuja to celebrate Buhari‘s victory in 2015, was seen trekking to Abuja again with APC casket.
The angry man said he was trekking to Abuja to bury the casket inside Aso Rock Mortuary, because the youth of the country are very disappointed in the President Buhari-led government.
