Bauchi State Hisbah police has arrested six youths over their alleged involvement in organising “sex parties” in Dolam village, Tafawa Balewa local government area (LGA) of the state.
Aminu Idris, the commissioner in charge of Hisbah and Sharia implementation, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He identified the culprits as 25-year-old Abdurrauf Kabir, 26-year-old Dabo Yusuf, Abdurrazak Isah (aged 24), Habu Umar (aged 27), Yaron Nuhu-Maikaji (aged 30), and 31-year-old Abdurrashid Shehu.
The commissioner said the culprits had been using primary school buildings in the area to host the parties.
He added that the culprits were in the habit of organising disco parties, locally called ‘Gwaidu’, during which they lured young girls into illicit sexual activities, while at times they used force to intimidate innocent people.
According to Idris, upon learning of their activities, his department swung into action, and arrested all those involved.
He said after discreet investigation, the state Hisbah office summoned the parents of the culprits, counselled them and made them sign an undertaking against repeating the offence.
Idris said the Hisbah department would, henceforth, not hesitate to prosecute such culprits in a competent court of law.
“As a lawyer, I will do everything possible to ensure that our existing laws are not flagrantly violated,” he said.
He appealed to the state government to hasten the appointment of the state Hisbah board, as well as provide additional financial and logistics support to the department to enable it perform efficiently.
This is coming a few days after the police arrested a member of a gang planning to organise a nude party in selected places in Ilorin, Kwara State.
