Kidnapped Ibadan Farmer Found Dead After Paying N2 Million Ransom To His Abductors
An abducted farmer, Mr Wole Agboola, has been found dead in the bush, a few miles from where he was abducted last year in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Agboola was reportedly abducted on his farm at Abaodo area in Olukitibi village in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state by suspected herdsmen dressed in military uniform on December 28, 2020.
According to The Nation, sources hinted Agboola was killed after his family allegedly paid about N2million ransom to his abductors.
A family source said they were expecting the release of Agboola four days after the ransom was paid but he could not be found, forcing the Police to embark on a search of the nearby forest where the body was later found.
His remains, which had started decomposing, were recovered on Monday by the Police and later deposited at the morgue by the family.
A brother to the deceased, Olakunle Agboola, who is also a journalist, confirmed the killing of the farmer, noting that his body was found 10 days after the ransom was paid by the family.
“My brother, Wole Agboola, was killed after a huge ransom was paid and we later found his body inside the bush near Aba Odo yesterday at 6.0 clock, just a bit close to where he was abducted,” Olakunle said.
It was gathered that the police had arrested some people in connection with the abduction of Wole Agboola who set up his farm at Akinyele area where he was into piggery and fishery.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a 33-year-old DSS operative, Sadiq Abdullahi Bindawa, was killed by his suspected abductors after receiving the sum of N5 million ransom from his friends and relatives in Katsina State.
