Nigerians are currently comparing the situation Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced in the royal family with the marriage between singer, Peter Okoye and his wife, Lola Omotayo.
KanyiDaily recalls that during a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle revealed that she faced hostility from royals while she lived in the palace due to her race.
This prompted her husband, Prince Harry, to take sides with her and they decided to step down from royal duties and relocate to America.
Twitter users have thronged the platform to revisit the case of Peter Okoye, fondly called Mr P ― one half of the defunct singing group, P Square.
It has been alleged that the music group, which consisted of twin brothers, Peter and Paul, began having cracks after Mr P decided to marry Lola.
It was also rumoured that the Okoye family including their mother was not in support of Peter’s marriage before her death, but the singer went ahead to fulfil his wishes.
Nigerians Twitter users are wondering why Peter Okoye wasn’t celebrated for standing with wife like Prince Harry.
We should celebrate Peter Okoye for standing for his wife against his family.
The only difference between Harry and Peter is that the former is royalty while the latter is not.

Peter Okoye (Mr P) did more than Harry to protect his wife.
Fought his family and left them. Quarrelled with his twin. Scattered Psquare, a legacy world-beating successful music group for his wife.
But he was still villainized here by men and women. Is he not a Nigerian man?

When Peter Okoye chose his wife over his family, many of you said the wife was a home wrecker
But now that its Prince Harry choosing his wife over his royal family, you people are calling him a king
It is well

Peter Okoye is Igbo. He left even his own twin brother.
Rochas is Igbo. He even got arrested while fighting to reclaim his wife's property.
These are even popular and recent examples.
Just say “can never be my father/brothers/uncles…” next time. https://t.co/rVD9dUKGoE

When Peter Okoye ( P Square) stood with his wife against his family's wish, moral lessons, praise & worship were not flying up and down, now that Prince Harry is standing with Meghan against the royal family, see praise & worship of Harry & dragging of Nigerian men up and down.

Peter Okoye is a noble man for sure. The sacrifice he made for his wife and family, I respect that.

Most Nigerian man always stand up for their wives just like Harry and Peter Okoye! Because they’re not celebrities and don’t come online to rant does not mean they don’t exist. I have one as my husband.

Watching Harry talked about how he made the decision to stand for his own family (Meghan and their kids), reminds me of Peter Okoye so much. It’s important to marry a man that’s not tied to his family’s apron, or one that can’t stand up for his wife.

Peter Okoye did not fight his twin and his entire family for his wife and scatter the biggest money making duo music group in Africa preferring to returning to becoming an upcoming artist for you to be tweeting this type of careless yarns. https://t.co/9vdp0sQRGg

Peter Okoye was not celebrated this way for standing with his wife against his family. Why??
I mean the story kinda looks similar in a way.

If Peter Okoye (Mr P) and Lola Omotayo were the Duke and Duchess of Awka, Peter would have been celebrated for his own decision to protect his wife and cut off his family too. pic.twitter.com/uKHGvQKl5w

Peter Okoye didn't receive this much support neither did Lola, infact she was vilified and called all sort of names. But now Harry and Meghan are your hero's, you see this thing called colonialism? E still dey

I don’t know why you people are bringing up Peter Okoye.
Are you not the same ones that called him names & have been insulting Lola nonstop for “separating him from his family”?
— Idomagirl (@idomagirl) March 8, 2021
Peter Okoye obviously sacrificed more to be honest, but what did he get? Bash upon Bash! Sadly.

KanyiDaily recalls that Peter Okoye had recently dragged Peter’s, Lola Omotayo, over her birthday message to both of them, saying she’s the brain behind their fight.
