Prophetess Edna Worleru has died two days after being sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in Rivers.
A prophetess identified as Edna Worleru has died while serving the jail term ordered by Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the Rivers State High Court.
The deceased was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after she was found guilty of preparing a “poisonous” substance in the name of love portion for one Onyema Bright.
It was gathered that Onyema Bright had asked the prophetess to make a love potion for her to administer on her man-friend, Isreal Georgewill, who was also a prophet in another church in the community.
Georgewill was said to have died after the love potion was given to him, and both Onyema Bright and Edna Worleru were sentenced to life imprisonment on September 16.
Prophetess Edna Worleru Dies After Brief Illness
The state prosecution council, Chidi Ekeh confirmed the death of the prophetess on Monday, saying that she died last week Saturday after a brief illness.
The lawyer, however, noted that the corpse of the deceased still remained the property of the Federal Government and may not be released to the family.
“She was convicted on Thursday and by Friday she fell ill, they took her to the hospital, she didn’t return from the hospital,” Chidi Ekeh said.
“The people are trying to see whether they can take the corpse from prison to go and bury, but unfortunately that’s going to be an uphill task because she remains the property of the Federal Government. She hasn’t been discharged, she will still serve her prison term even in death.”
