Slain Dr. Chike Akunyili Filmed Buying Woman’s Entire Plantain To Support Her [Video]

Late Dr. Chike Akunyili was seen in a viral video buying a woman’s entire wheelbarrow of plantain to support her.

As many Nigerians continue to mourn the untimely demise of Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of late NAFDAC DG Dora Akunyili, a heartwarming old video of him helping an elderly hawker has gone viral on social media.

In the video shared by one of his daughters, Chidiogo Akunyili Parr, the late medical doctor could be seen counting wads of cash while an elderly plantain seller is spotted jubilating, dancing and singing his praises.

Chidiogo, who shared the video, said that her father was on his way home when he saw the woman but he didn’t have cash so he continued his journey. When he got home, he took some money, and returned to buy her entire wheelbarrow of plantain.

How Chike Akunyili Bought Woman’s Entire Plantain

Chidiogo said, ”The load of our grief is lessened by videos such as this. The story goes that on his way home, he saw an old woman with a heavy wheelbarrow full of plantains. He continued home, got the needed cash and came back to where she was, and proceeded to buy all her plantains.

He counts out the money to the soundtrack of her cries of joy and blessing as she dances away. “Nothing is as good as giving joy,” he adds, a happy smile on is face.

The medical doctor was killed last Tuesday night after he attended a memorial in honour of his late wife, Dora Akunyili, in Onitsha.

Meanwhile, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has offered N20 million to anyone who has clues of persons who killed the medical doctor.
