Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke has cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Nkem Okeke voted at exactly 10:04am on Saturday at polling unit 005, Ward 3, Umueze Awovu in Enugwu-Ukwu community in Njikoka Local Government Area.
KanyiDaily recalls that Okeke recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
After casting his vote, the deputy governor displayed his ballot paper to the camera while debunking rumours that he had returned to the APGA.
Okeke said, “I had to reveal my ballot paper because they have been rumors that I had defected back to APGA, but that is not true. You just saw that I voted for my party, APC.”
The deputy governor also said that he was impressed with election turnout and the voting process which he described as transparent.
He commended the Federal Government for the massive deployment of the security operatives who provided a peaceful environment For the Anambra election.
He said, “I’m impressed with the turnout. The process was transparent. This is the easiest that I have had in voting ever.
“The process is very seamless and as you can see, I have just voted. In other elections, I have always had a problem with fingerprints, but with the smart card readers it is different and seamless.”
“The credit should be given to the federal government for providing the enabling environment. The presence of the security personnel gave the people courage to come out to vote.”
