Globally celebrated Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has taken to social media to share pictures of herself which were rejected by an unnamed international magazine.
Sharing the photos on her Instagram page, Chimamanda Adichie said an international magazine rejected them because they didn’t want her to look too glamourous.
In the photos, the prolific writer who is known for her good sense of style, was dressed in a white cowl neckline blouse and earrings by Christian Dior. She also wore sparse makeup and a radiant smile.
She wrote, “It was a cover shoot for an international magazine. Or it was supposed to be. The magazine rejected the photos. They didn’t want me ‘looking too glamorous,’ they said. And so the cover didn’t happen.
“What does one do with rejected photos but show them anyway, primarily for the vanity-boosting benefits 🤷🏾♀️ of such an act, but also to celebrate and thank these talented people in Lagos:”
KanyiDaily recalls that Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie had recently advised young Nigerian women to stop using feminism to justify their wickedness.
