The immediate past governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has broken his long silence about the forthcoming general election in 2023.
Ambode Speaks on 2023 Election
In a post shared on his Twitter page on Tuesday, the ex-governor said power was in the hands of the youths, urging them to register and get their permanent voter cards (PVCs) to vote in 2023.
He also thanked his supporters for the “overwhelming endorsement” over his “modest contributions” to the growth of Lagos.
Ambode tweeted, “The youths are coming. The power is in their hands. Go and get your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready. Your future is NOW!
“After all we have been through, God has been faithful. Thank you for the overwhelming endorsement of our modest contributions to the growth of Lagos. It can only get better for Lagos, and indeed Nigeria.”

Ambode’s statement comes amid encouragement from some Lagosiansa urging him to re-contest for the office of Lagos State governor for another four years.
While Ambode has not accepted or declined the calls, his supposed ambition might be running against the current governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who he had lost to at the APC primary due to intra-party squabbles in 2019.
