Cynthia Morgan Reveals How Burna Boy Almost Made Her Lose Record Label Deal
Nigerian dancehall artiste, Cynthia Morgan has revealed that she almost lost her record label deal because she featured Grammy award-winning superstar, Burna Boy, in the video of her 2015 hit song “Simatiniya”.
The female singer, who is now known as Madrina, made this revelation while reacting to a troll who threw shades at Burna Boy for being a “video vixen” for Morgan while Nigerian superstar, Wizkid, was already hanging out with top international artists.
The controversy started when a fan of Burna Boy expressed gratitude that he made the billboard else he would have received a lot of backlash from critics.
“I just thank God say Burna Boy got a Billboard Hot 100 entry, if not these streets would have been really cold for Outsiders,” he tweeted.
Responding to the tweet, a Wizkid fan wrote: “Wiz been balling with them top guns when your fave was doing video vixen for Cynthia Morgan.”
Cynthia Morgan Speaks On Her Video With Burna Boy
Taking to her Instagram page, the singer cleared the notion that Burna Boy, when he was featured in her music video, he was not a “video vixen” but “the biggest artist in Africa.”
According to her, she insisted on having Burna Boy in the video and that almost made her lose her deal with her former label boss, Jude Okoye.
She tweeted, “Burna Boy has always been a big artist. You were just a kid.”
Sharing the screenshot of the tweet on her Instagram story, she added: “To me, Burna Boy was the biggest artiste in africa when I picked him for Simatiniya video.
“And I remember almost losing my record deal with Jude Okoye’s label for standing my ground that it was only Burna Boy I wanted and no one else.
“I know a lot of you love living in lies either due to tribalism or personal hatred but please, I never want to see my name in any sentence that has to do with a Burna Boy slander. He is the best and the biggest artist in Africa till I pick the mic again.”
KanyiDaily recalls Cynthia Morgan had recently slammed Afrobeats superstar, Davido, accusing him of compelling people to celebrate him because he has nothing to offer.
