Ayuba Abok Sacked By Plateau Assembly
The Assembly took the decision during plenary on Tuesday presided over by the speaker, Sanda Ayuba, at the temporary Chamber at the old Government House, Jos.
Ayuba declared the seat vacant after exhaustive delibrations on a letter sent to the House by the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) asking the House to vacate the seat of Abok on the premise of illegal defection.
APC, in the letter signed by the State Chairman of the party, Hon Rufus Bature, urged the Speaker to declare Abok’s seat vacant following his defection from the APC to the PDP contrary to section 109 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
The speaker also declared the Rukuba/Irigwe constituency seat vacant following the election of former member Hon Musa Agah’s victory at the recent Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye election.
Last week, March 18, Abok had officially tended his letter of resignation from the ruling APC, while presenting a letter of intent, seeking to return to his earlier party, PDP, at the party’s Local Government Secretariat in Angware, Jos East.
KanyiDaily recalls that yesterday, a Federal High Court in Abuja had sacked 20 lawmakers from Cross River State over their defection from the PDP to the ruling APC.
