The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court over an alleged plot to disqualify him from participating in the primary elections.
This comes days after Emefiele purchased the presidential form to contest under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
In court documents obtained by Daily Trust, the CBN governor through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, affirmed that he is not a political appointee and as stipulated by the constitution, he is expected to resign a month before February 25, 2023, presidential election.
He further argued that the Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, had nullified section 12 (8) of the Electoral Act.
