Three luxury cars- a Mercedes Benz CLA 250, Mercedes Benz GLK 350 and Toyota Venza were among other items recovered from ten (10) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly called “Yahoo Boys” arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.
EFCC Arrests 10 Internet Fraud Suspects In Abuja
The suspects were nabbed by the Abuja zonal command of the EFCC on August 25, 2022 in a sting operation at various locations in Kubwa and Gwarimpa areas of Abuja for alleged involvement in cyber-fraud.
This was disclosed in a terse statement issued on Friday by Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren.
Uwujaren said other items recovered from the suspects are mobile phones and laptop computers.
According to him, the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
“Operatives of the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects were arrested on August 25, 2022, in a sting operation at various locations in Kubwa and Gwarimpa areas of Abuja for alleged involvement in cyber-fraud,” his statement reads.
“Among items recovered from them at the point of arrest are mobile phones, laptop computers and three luxury cars- a Mercedes Benz CLA 250, Mercedes Benz GLK 350 and Toyota Venza.”
In the meantime, Kanyi Daily had reported that the EFCC had secured the conviction of One Emeka Anaga, who pretended to be a contractor with MTN and 9mobile and defrauded a businessman of N39m.
He was then convicted and sentenced to 28 years in jail by Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court sitting at Abakiliki, Ebonyi State.
