Former Governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi, has rubbished the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi and his ambition.
Ahmed Makarfi Talks Peter Obi Presidential Ambition
Makarfi, who is also a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Obi is being used as a “symbol” by “frustrated youths.”
He stated this on Tuesday when he featured during a breakfast programme Sunrise Daily on Channels Television.
The coming of Obi into the presidential race as the third force, is widely supported by youths who call themselves the “OBIdients” movement.
Obi’s ambition appears to resonate with the yearnings and aspirations of the youths in the country, who are tired/discontent at the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former Anambra State governor deserted the PDP in May this year and emerged as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.
However, Makarki said, “Peter Obi, it is my personal opinion that even if he was frustrated out of PDP, that one must have come from where come from not from any other parts of this country, and it is this politics of edging this person out, edging that person out, and politics is like that.
“What is happening now in my opinion is not so much about Peter Obi but the frustration of the youths and they are using him as a symbol. Let’s agree that was the case, any decision based on anger will not produce anything positive. We accept the frustration but the only rational way forward is to go the way of PDP.”
The former governor called on Obi and his counterpart in the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to drop their personal ambition and return to the PDP, just as the Senator representing Kano Central, Ibrahim Shekarau, made his way back to the PDP.
He asserted that there is only two political parties in Nigeria – the PDP and the All Progressives Congress.
In other news, Kanyi Daily had reported that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar recieved former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, who found his way back to the PDP and dumped the NNPP.
