Following the expiration of the Olumide Akpata-led administration, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yakubu Maikyau has been sworn in as new President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
New NBA President Sworn-In
He was sworn in as on Friday, August 26th, 2022 as the 31st President of the NBA.
He had in July won the presidency of the NBA with 38,000 electoral votes.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at Eko Hotel & Suites.
While thanking God for him thus far in his career, Maikyau also appreciated his colleagues at YC Maikyau & Co., his campaign team, as well as friends and associates who supported his candidacy.
He also commended the outgone administration headed by Akpata for the “giant strides” it recorded at the association in the last two years.
He promised to build on the achievements of the immediate past administration.
He extended a hand of fellowship to all those who contested the office of the NBA President with him, saying he and his team would be coming to tap from their indepth knowledge from time to time.
“I saw all your great manifestos and your laudable proposals for the NBA. What has happened is that we are now the ones who have been given the responsibility. I invite you all to join hands with us as we build the Nigerian Bar Association to that great heights we all desire,” he said.
In other news, Kanyi Daily had reported that the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had explained why he was absent at the 2022 Annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) which was held in Lagos between August 19 to 26, 2022.
