Popular Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince, has once again been remanded in prison by a magistrate court sitting in Ajah, Lagos state.
Court Remand Ice Prince In Prison For Police Assault
KanyiDaily had reported how the rapper, whose real name is Panshak Zamani, was arrested in the early hours of Friday for driving without license plates in Lagos.
Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this on Friday, said the rapper allegedly assaulted and threatened to throw an officer in his car into the river.
The musician was later arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out its statutory duties, and abduction.
The court had previously ordered his remand at the Ikoyi correctional facility after granting him bail in the sum of N500,000 and asked him to provide two sureties.
The rapper, who is yet to meet the bail conditions, was arraigned again on Wednesday, September 7, and the prosecution counsel asked the court to adjourn the case, citing the absence of his two witnesses.
During the trial, the counsel to the musician, Folarin Dalmenida, presented the two sureties requested by the court for the rapper’s bail.
The judge, H. O. Omisore, thereafter adjourned the case till October 24 for the continuation of trial.
Operatives of the Ikoyi correctional facility also told TheCable Lifestyle that the rapper will remain in custody until he perfects his bail conditions.
One of the officials, who preferred anonymity, said the court will evaluate the sureties brought by the singer and determine if he should be released or not.
“If they (the sureties) meet the requirement, we may even release him today but if not, he is not going anywhere,” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Lagos State Police Command had also threatened to punish another singer, BNXN, formally known as Buju, for assauting an officer during an altercation between them.
