Zainab Duke Abiola Accused Of Assaulting Her Police Orderly
KanyiDaily recalls that the professor and her housemaid, Rebecca Enechido, were arrested on Thursday for assaulting the police orderly over her refusal to do some domestic chores she assigned to her.
In a video that went viral on Wednesday, the police officer was seen in uniform bleeding, seated on the floor and asking to be taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The police spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest on Thursday, said the police were going after a fleeing domestic worker complicit in the assault.
The professor and her domestic aide were arraigned on friday before a magistrate court sitting in Wuse, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The police accused Abiola of attempt to commit culpable homicide and intentional insult to cause a breach of trust.
At the court on Friday, the professor was denied bail while the matter was adjourned till October 5, 2022.
The magistrate also ordered that Abiola should be remanded in Suleja Prison pending the adjourned date.
KanyiDaily recalls that Zainab Abiola had earlier denied assaulting the policewoman, explaining that the officer threatened to attack her because she found out she was involved in #EndSARS brutality.
