Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has frowned at attacks on Nigerians exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of assembly.

Obi was reacting to an attack on a member of the party, Joshua Alamu during the Labour Party sensitisation yesterday in Nasarawa State.
A member of the party, Jamilu Sufi, who tweeted about the incident, wrote, “Dear @PoliceNG, Our attention has been drawn on the attack to Mr. Joshua Alamu, at Nasarawa State during @NgLabour sensitization yesterday, we call on you to protect the life of our citizens and bring perpetrators to book. @Coalitionforpo @NCPeterObi.”
Retweeting the post, the LP presidential candidate stressed that the Nigerian civic and political space must remain open for the Nigerian people to exercise their constitutional rights of freedom.
“Once again, I wish to stress that Nigerian civic and political space must remain open for the Nigerian people to exercise their Constitutional rights of freedom of assembly. Physical attacks on individuals exercising such rights are utterly unacceptable,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that Police dispersed Peter Obi’s supporters with teargas in Ebonyi State during a rally.
