Edo CP Removes DPO Over Killing Of Suspect Who Attacked Apostle Suleman’s Convoy
Edo State Commissioner of Police, AIG Abutu Yaro has removed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Auchi Division, CSP Ayodele Suleiman, over the killing of a suspect involved in the attack on the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman.
Police Withdraw Officer Over Controversial Death Of Suspect
KanyiDaily had reported that the suspect involved in the killing of seven people in Apostle Suleman’s convoy was shot dead by the police after he was reportedly arrested alive and handed over to them on Friday evening along the Benin–Auchi Road in Edo State.
Reacting to the controversy trailing the incident, Edo CP In a statement on Saturday ordered the immediate withdrawal of the DPO for debriefing.
Edo police command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Iwegbu, said the DPO’s withdrawal was part of the measures to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of one of the surviving members of the gang that attacked the convoy and that he is to report at the state police command for debriefing.
The statement read, “The outgoing CP now AIG Abutu Yaro has ordered the withdrawal of CSP Ayodele Suleiman, DPO Auchi for debriefing at the State Headquarters with immediate effect.
“We urged members of the public to remain calm and patient, assuring that no stone would be left unturned to unearth the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
KanyiDaily had reported that Apostle Suleman was attacked on Friday by gunmen who killed seven people including policemen in his convoy.
Apostle Suleman had slammed the police for killing the suspect who was handed over to them alive, alleging that it was an attempt to cover up traces that could lead to those behind the attack.
