President Muhammadu Buhari has said he will ensure that no election winner will be denied his mandate in the 2023 general election.
Buhari Says No Election Winner Will Be Denied His Mandate
Buhari stated this on Tuesday when he joined party members at the Jos township stadium in endorsing the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential race, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Earlier during a visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the president reiterated his commitment to ensuring that every vote counted.
He also urged party members to march to deliver the APC candidates now that the party had decided.
A statement by his Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as saying, “No election winner will be denied his mandate, irrespective of the party to which they belonged.”
Buhari, while handing the APC flag to Tinubu at the event, said the country needed a man like the former Lagos governor and urged party faithful to campaign on issues and the abilities of the candidate and his running mate, Shettima.
He maintained his earlier assurances that he would be at the forefront of the campaign because he believed in the party.
The president said it was only the APC that could steer Nigeria to fulfill its historic purpose adding that by working together with the leadership of the party, the campaign council, and its teeming supporters, the goal would be achieved.
On his party, the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, led other party stalwarts, including Tinubu to call on Nigerians to vote for the APC ticket.
Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that a member of the House of Representatives, Ado- Doguwa has raised an alarm that there is fire on the mountain, saying Tinubu risks losing Kano State over the APC crisis.
