Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a man, Sunday Sampson, for his involemnet in the death of a 23-year-old girl whom he allegedly impregnanted.
Man Arrested Over 13-Year-Old Pregnant Girl’s Death
The comman spokesperson, Odiko MacDon, in a statement on Thursday, said the man allegedly impregnated the teenage girl and secretly procured an abortion for her, which led to her death.
MacDon said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olatoye Durosinmi has directed that the matter be transferred to the homicide section for discreet investigation.
“One Sunday George Sampson has been arrested by the Nsit Ubium division of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command. The suspect impregnated a 13-year- old girl- child and secretly procured an abortion for her and she died in the process.
“The Commissioner of Police is miffed at this development and has asked that the matter be transferred to the homicide section for discreet investigation.
“He has however called on parents to create time and pay more attention to the whereabouts and behaviour of their children to prevent sexual abuse and social vices,” the statement in part read.
KanyiDaily had also reported how a 70-year-old man with four wifes and 20 children was arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old teenage girl in Zamfara State.
